Details
Have you ever had a referral on a patient and you evaluated them, and put together a plan of care, that you know will work for this person, because you have treated similar patients so many times, only this time, what you do doesn’t elicit the same response? It could be what they are experiencing in their life, at that moment. It may have nothing to do with you or your RX, but you realize your POC has to be modified to meet the goals you have set for this patient.
It may be that there are other things that are happening in the life of your patient besides the total knee replacement, or the arthritis, or the COPD and that something, if not addressed with our POC, will have a direct impact on the patient’s ability to reach their optimal potential. In this seminar, we will look “outside the box” to other things that may come into play with our ability on meeting our goals and what additional interventions we may need to bring into our POC to help our patient reach their goals and ultimately their rehab potential in a more timely manner.
Objectives:
1. Attendees will understand the need to think “outside the box”, beyond the patient’s primary diagnosis with their POC in order to reach their patient’s rehab potential in a more timely manner.
2. Attendees will be familiar with a tool they can use to correlate with patient’s complaints/ feelings to determine if they are experiencing stress, and if so, how it may affect their diagnosis-signs and symptoms.
3. Attendees will understand how stress and stress hormones may affect their patients with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, asthma, fibromyalgia, wound healing, osteoporosis, cancer, depression, etc and interfere with them responding to the treatments/procedures normally offered.
4. Attendees will learn to think “outside the box” to include interventions in their POC that will decrease the stress response and improve their patient’s response to the interventions offered for their primary diagnosis to reach their optimal rehab potential in a more timely manner.
5. Attendees will return to their workplace, with new tools and intervention techniques to be able to utilize with their patients in order to assist them to reach their goals more quickly.
