Stress: How it Impacts our Patients and Intervention Techniques
Vertical Tabs
Details
Stress can have a deleterious effect on our patients, leading to exacerbations of chronic diseases, increasing the risk of complications of some diagnoses as well as increasing the risk of additional diagnoses. It can interfere with them reaching their maximum rehabilitation potential and needs to be addressed.
In this evidenced-based seminar we teach what happens (physiological effects) of stress, whether it be be from watching the never-ending news reports of national disasters or other psychological stress, or physiological stress they are experiencing. We will examine what signs to look for, to determine if the patient is experiencing stress, and look at how different diagnoses may be effected by stress and what we as health care practitioners may offer as intervention techniques to help decrease the effects of the stress so they may reach their maximum rehab potential in a timely manner.

2. Be knowledgeable of the effect stress has on the different systems of the body
